Can they really enter the smart home market with the help of other companies that manufacture the products, because the big thing was that LG would be manufacturing some of these things?
I don't think Apple or LG see this as a smash hit or an iPhone-like device , but I think it's increasingly about controlling the " closed garden" of the consumer relationship.
I think it makes sense for LG to expand a little beyond home appliances, and to try it with a good partner and a strong brand. LG alone wouldn't sell as many doorbells as Amazon or Google. With Apple, I think they will sell a lot.
So, I think it's not impactful for investors in either company, but I think it makes sense for both of them. While LG retains its brand on the devices themselves, the AI models that Apple adopts are a partnership with Google's Gemini.
