TSLA rose slightly after the Roadster unveiling but ended far from its overnight highs, a reaction possibly short of what the market hoped; shares are up ~25% since July 29 though still down over 15% this year. With uncertainties around today's price move, JPMorgan keeps a neutral rating.

Let's focus on Tesla this morning. The stock rose slightly after the unveiling of the new "Roadster" model last night. The stock has fallen by more than 15% this year, but has made a significant recovery since the second-quarter earnings, as you can see here, rebounding from that slump two months ago.
Tesla's stock has risen by about 25% since July 29, and is the focus of Morning Trade's attention.
Prior to the event, Musk said the updated Roadster would be the best and last car driven by humans. This vehicle used a propeller suction system to generate enough downforce to drive upside down on a parabolic incline, rotate, and then activate the engines to fly towards a perfect landing.
Later, the Roadster performed an aerial stunt over a row of five Tesla cars before landing smoothly.
And finally, as a final trick to this amazing show, in a pre-recorded clip, the Roadster appeared accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in less than a second using those engines, Sam.
I mean, was this something investors were looking forward to as another incentive for some gains here? JPMorgan, by the way, said that production of this vehicle is targeted for 2028 versus a 2020 target.
So obviously there were a lot of hurdles to getting this thing to the road. JPMorgan maintains a neutral rating on Tesla after the company unveiled the second generation of the Roadster.
So, when you step away from the spotlight on this vehicle, analysts see the decision to release the Roadster as actually an attempt to pave the way for a purported merger between Tesla and SpaceX.
Tesla, as you know, has moved away from its July lows, as I said, by about 25%? Yes, as you know, it may not have been the reaction the market was hoping for. Certainly, it is still holding a slight gain, but it is far from its overnight highs.
But I think, you know, in the long run, again, it was a wild moment. I agree that, as you know, it will certainly be the subject of much debate. Now, what does that mean for the stock going forward?
There are still some uncertainties based on today's price movement.
Therefore, today's trading example aims to capture more potential upside, while creating a protection zone against downside in case of any hesitation during the next month. It is a reflection of the risks for November.
This means selling a November put option at 50 and buying a November call option at 90. You can do this for a small credit balance here. Meaning that you can actually make a little money when you open this center.
This trading example allows you to enter a buy position below the 350 level if the price drops there within the next three or four weeks. However, if we maintain the upward momentum, or witness a breakout based on this news and other factors that may push the stock higher, this will allow you to capture profits as well.
So, it is actually a reflection of the risks. There is some downside risk involved, but the main objective is to get the stock at a better level. If we see a continued upward price movement, we will be able to participate.
