$VOO

VOO is a core holding he loves and will keep in his Roth account; he will invest in it. Because another broad-market fund overlaps VOO by roughly 85%, he plans to drop it and consolidate into VOO, calling the VOO-centered mix a setup for success.

I have VOO, VTI and QQQ in my Roth account.

Many people make this mistake and think that they are investing in Roth, which means they are investing in something like VOO. I mentioned VOO, VTI, and QQQ. I love all three, but you're right, there's a lot of overlap between the three.

So, what I'm probably going to do is get rid of the VTI. I will keep VOO and QQQ.

You will get more variety because I believe there is approximately 85% overlap between VOO and VTI. The relative weights may vary, but the ratio is very high.

You have VOO and VTI, and I'm actually thinking of combining them so you just have VOO. But yes, you are setting yourself up for success here. VOO, QQQM, VXUS, and maybe some VUG, some AIQ, or some BTCI to get a little Bitcoin exposure in a "Roth" account. I think this is perfectly fine.

I will invest in the funds we are talking about, such as VOO, QQQ, and VXUS, and start working with them.
