BE's 11% drop is throwing the baby out with the bathwater: a near-unique data-center fuel-cell supplier with a 20 billion backlog and triple-digit revenue growth, liked on a long-term view. The only downside is its 60 to 65 times future earnings multiple; near term it trades with technology.

Let's delve deeper into Bloom Energy ahead of its earnings report later today in our technology spotlight segment. We know that " Bloom Energy" is associated with everything related to artificial intelligence.
Tell us more about the big picture for a company like " Bloom Energy".
Well, Bloom Energy essentially manufactures fuel cells that can generate electricity for these data center developers. It is a much-needed technology because they can get this electricity running faster than public utilities, for example. So, once again , it is in high demand.
As you know, it's significantly lower today. We actually like its long-term outlook because of its current situation and how rapidly the demand for energy is accelerating.
So, a day like this, when it drops by 11%, does that represent a buying opportunity? Does it sound like an exaggeration of fear , or a case of throwing the baby in with bathwater?
Yes, I would say it is definitely a case of throwing the baby in with the bathwater. So, it's a great company.
I mean, I would say the only downside is that it's trading at 60 to 65 times future earnings. But again, their backlog of orders stands at 20 billion, and their revenues are growing at triple- digit rates.
It is simply a very, very much needed technology . When data center providers or large companies get together, they try to expand and get these centers up and running as quickly as possible to reduce their costs.
This is the technology that allows them to do that.
There really isn't another company like it out there. It has reached a point where public utilities themselves are entering into partnerships with Bloom Energy.
So, again, it's a great company. We like long-term forecasts , but for the time being, they are influenced by everything that happens in technology trading. Look, in the second quarter they were very positive and talked about sales doubling and gave us very positive forecasts.
What do you expect to hear from the company now? What would you like to hear?
I would like to hear that they are organizing the manufacturing processes, and that the production is going out to the markets, for there is no better way to put it. Therefore, they are leveraging their capabilities in a good position and are forging new partnerships.
We would like to see Bloom Energy get a share of that, wouldn't we ? Because, once again, it is able to provide this energy source at a faster pace and with greater efficiency than public utilities.
So, we would like to see anything on this front, whether it's order backlogs, confirmed orders, or anything like that. In fact, the talk on Wall Street was about whether they were being too optimistic about the second quarter?
They are really waiting for a company like Bloom Energy to demonstrate just how strong the demand for artificial intelligence is.
What is the size of this order? For example, exceeding expectations in terms of numbers may confirm that customers are still buying the service, which may stimulate new purchases.
On the other hand, failure to meet expectations carries risks, because it suggests that there are justifiable doubts, and that it may have been just a temporary fluke.
But you tend to think things will look good for a company like this as the AI infrastructure expands, don't you ?
This may have been one of the reasons that led to the rise in Bloom Energy's stock last week. Therefore, I believe that these partnerships form a large part of the story, including the presence in the expansion of data centers.
correct. Well, they have great partnerships. As you know, they work a lot with Oracle, Brookfield, and even American Electric Power.
So, once again, the partnerships already exist for them. It's about continuing to build on it. They need something that is in the same location. They need something ready to go, and that's what Bloom Energy provides.
So , as you know, any additional partnerships will of course be a positive catalyst or should be a positive catalyst for the stock. So, when you want to accelerate the pace of these projects, you need Bloom Energy.
You don't want to rely on the old, traditional electricity grid , and that's where they come in .
Mark Givens , it was a pleasure seeing you. The head of investment at Givens Capital Management, and a fascinating look at Bloom Energy, which we will be watching tonight after the bell rings.
