UnitedHealth Group ended the day slightly below the unchanged range after raising its full-year profit forecast following better-than-expected third-quarter results.
The healthcare giant's turnaround efforts appear to be succeeding , as EPS stood at $4.69 per share. This was better than the forecast of $4.14, with total revenue of $112.7 billion.
That's slightly lower than a year ago but still exceeded Wall Street expectations.
The company's medical care ratio improved to 88.4% from 89.9% a year ago , meaning it likely collected more premiums than it paid out in benefits, even though membership numbers have declined and medical costs remain high.
UnitedHealth now says it expects full- year consolidated earnings to be at least $20.50 per share , up from its previous forecast of $ 19.50 to $20.
The company also announced that it is launching AI-powered listening tools to reduce the administrative burden on doctors and free up time for patients, which, Sam, is very much in line with what we were talking about with Ann Ball.
